  • Needlessly Dying - The Twin Epidemics of HIV and Substance Use in Malaysia by Professor Dr. Adeeba Kamarulzaman

    For over five decades Malaysia has been battling with the problem of substance use amongst a significant number of the youth in the country which was further compounded with the advent of the HIV epidemic. The recent introduction of evidence-based prevention programmes have to addressed the high prevalence of HIV amongst people who use drugs. However many structural barriers existed that continue that to make a comprehensive response to HIV amongst people who use drugs a challenge. The medical, scientific and academic communities must play a bigger role in support of the nation's response to the twin epidemic problems that have led to the unnecessary loss of lives of thousands of Malaysians.
